Brussels Immanuel Sunday Service Meditates on Breaking the Alabaster Jar

On February 26, Brussels Immanuel Church offered a graceful Sunday service to God with the scripture Mark 14:3-9.

Pastor Apollos Yoon shared the incident of breaking Mary’s jar of alabaster and pouring it on Jesus, and had time to meditate on the love of Jesus and the love of the woman. Also, while comparing Judas and Mary, they meditated on the dangers of calculating love, and had time to look back to see if there was something like Judas in them.

Pastor Apollos said, “We need to meditate on the image of the Lord. What did the Lord do when He faced difficulties? He was silent He did not open his mouth. But what about people? When you start to caculate and argue, a crisis comes. Which place do we stand, the place of Mary or the place of Judas? Mary gave the most precious thing accrording to the great love of Jesus Christ as reponse, however, the absurd Judas denigrated her love, ignored it, and rebuked it. Even if love is a waste, it is a beautiful and holy waste, and we may encounter these conflicts in the place where this love is revealed.

Have we not blamed to this beautiful life of love by rebuking and criticizing it? We can also make this mistake because we are the descendants of those who have eaten the fruit of that knowledge and have always lived in a smart world that judged and rebuked others. Even if we are transferred and washed in the gospel, we are still the ones who can return to that habit. So we must deeply meditate on the text today. During this Lent 40 days walk period, deeply meditate on the grace and the love and sacrifice bestowed upon us by the Lord, I hope that we too will live a life that responses and testifies to that love.”
